MMB’s scheme at Bramley included the demolition of 2 no. existing service reservoirs in poor structural condition and the construction of a new service reservoir with twin compartments and a usable capacity of 16ML.
Bramley is the largest of seven pre-cast service reservoirs we constructed for Yorkshire Water in 2013 – a £3.8 million structure.
Off-site construction, together with the use of BIM helped to drive efficiencies on site. Issuing the model to our construction team provided them with a high value tool, improving their understanding of the design intention for the scheme.
The use of the model for ‘setting out’ successfully co-ordinated the installation of 180 augered piles through a landfill site and the positioning of over 700 pre-cast structural components. The installation of pre-cast components saved 7 weeks on programme – also resulting in a capital efficiency claim of £743,000.
Bramley has become something of a flagship scheme when it comes to embedding BIM into our culture.
